Our church is historic building has existed since 1892 with additions and many updates being made since that time. Throughout the history of the Wesley United Methodist Church, God has used this lovely building to minister to the residents of Stockton and the surrounding area. Through these doors you will find a warm welcome and an open invitation to worship with us. In the United Methodist Church pastors are "itinerant", meaning they move from place to place to serve God's call. This allows local congregations to share in ministry with many different pastors who share wisdom from all the congregations they have served. Pastor Mel brings with him wisdom gained while serving alongside congregations in Manhattan, Tinley Park and Chadwick here in Illinois and also in the Church of South India. He and his family love rural areas so are excited to be moving to Lena and living in the parsonage here in Lena. He loves to fish, so he will likely be looking for some good fishing buddies. Pastor Mel will be joined in Lena by his wife, Sabina, who loves to garden and cook and by his sons Jason, who will be in seventh grade in Le-Win, and Justin who will be attending college in Michigan. Pastor Mel is looking forward to getting involved in the community and meeting the people in Lena and Stockton where he will also be serving Stockton's Wesley United Methodist Church.
